SOLD Cherilea Roman Chariot Set Boxed

Very rare early boxed set of Cherilea 60mm Romans, Chariots and Charioteers – cat. no. 3000 – Figures, horses and chariots all beautifully hand-painted – one chariot (yellow) has a broken hook that attaches to the horses harness, otherwise no damage – contents generally good to excellent (inevitable paint flaking which is common with early Cherilea figures) – figures have been restrung – coloured card insert is good (creased, small tears) – lift-off lid style early box is good (measures approx 38 x 18 x 7 cm) with some age wear, creases, scuffs to corners and a couple of tears repaired from the inside of the box lid – also includes a sticker with the reference T645 added, the significance of which is a something of a mystery – Cherilea issued the Romans in 1959 and this set dates from that era – we sold the only other example of a larger, but incomplete, version of this set (cat. no.4000 at the end of 2013) – Super rare set acquired from the original owner in Biddenham, Bedford.
