Herald Miniatures very rare box set of 1st type full paint version American Indians, H7501, comprising 2 mounted and 4 dismounted Indians in an early brown lift-off lid box with illustrated label (by Ron Freeman, the source of which was the front cover of the 1955 Buffalo Bill Annual, illustrated by Denis McLoughlin), with two-tier card insert. Overall, figures are mint (one standing figure’s base paint flaking), card insert is near mint, Lift-off lid type box is very good (slight scuffing, age wear, original price in pencil $3.50), with good colour illustrated Wild West label. Only produced between February 1956 and 1959. Extremely RARE set. Superb. [Provenance: “Sherry’s Mother and Stepfather moved to Missoula Montana around 1962, from Arizona. Her stepfather was Ray Bingham, a former rodeo rider and US Navy veteran (WWII), consequently his interest in such models.
We estimate that he and Sherry’s mother acquired these models from the Coyote Cafe at Bigfork Montana during one of their many trips around the area. Bigfork is a town near Missoula situated on the shores of Flathead Lake”].
